About The Author "Robin Moore"

Robin Moore has a Master’s Degree in Special Education
and Rehabilitation from the University of  Memphis and a
Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Tennessee at
Knoxville.  She has been teaching school for over 20 years.

Robin had dyslexia, and was unable to read until the age
of 16, when she attended a special program for dyslexics.  She learned to
read, but her parents were told that since she had done so poorly in school,
her chance for a college degree was minimal.  However, she proved them
wrong.  After struggling through her first 14 years of school, Robin enjoyed
success in her last 2 years at the University of Tennessee, never earning
below the grade of “B”. After graduating from the University of Tennessee,
Robin continued her education and earned a Master’s Degree in Special
Education.  In 2000 Robin was named “Teacher of the Year” by the Bartlett,
Tennessee chapter of Rotary International.

Robin taught herself how to study and become successful in school even
though she had a reading disability.  She succeeded by taking notes and
reviewing those notes daily. Robin has used those skills in her teaching and
has developed aids for students to make learning easier. Her students enjoy
greater success because of these simple tools and aids. After working with
students for many years, she developed the 3” x 5” color coded cards for
students in math in order to help them remember math processes.  They are
now known as Moore’s Reminders for Math.
